The AFTI First-Time ATA Conference Attendee Scholarship supports language professionals who are attending the ATA Annual Conference for the first time. Shortly after completing the Spanish-English Translation Certificate Program, I was fortunate to receive the scholarship. Thanks to the scholarship, I was able to attend my first ATA Annual Conference. There, I learned more about the profession, connected with translators and interpreters, and explored topics such as AI and professional development. I also gained a clearer sense of how to build a sustainable career in translation. Most importantly, the scholarship gave me the confidence that my years of experience in medical interpreting, combined with my translation training, could form the basis of a new professional path.
