Two Internship Opportunities with an Agency Based in Springfield, MA

An agency based in Springfield, MA is looking for a translator and an assistant manager. Please see the details below. Candidates will be interviewed starting this week. If you’re interested in this opportunity, please email courses@umbtranslation.org.

Translator

Responsibilities include:

  • Reading and translating original documents (Spanish to English and vise versa) 
  • Editing translated versions
  • Being sensitive to the culture of the original language, as well as of the target language during the translation process

Skills and qualifications:

  • Using Translation Memory software
  • Management of time to complete assigned tasks
  • Understanding different cultures in translation
  • Working with people from different cultural backgrounds and industries

 

Assistant Manager

Responsibilities include:

  • Scheduling and coordinating meetings
  • Developing good relationships with the agency’s team
  • Taking part in the invitation processes for guests to participate in the TV program Viviendo Sin Limites
  • Taking notes in meetings and making a follow-up report
  • Development of strategies for a better functioning of the agency
  • Emailing and telephone correspondence.
  • Serving as a link between managers, customers and contractors
  • Monitoring spending patterns and budget
  • Representing the General Manager (GM) in times of absence. Making executive decisions, holding meetings and being accountable
  • Troubleshooting POS system
  • Supporting continuous learning and development of team members

Skills and qualifications:

  • Fluent in Spanish and English
  • Excellent verbal communication and the ability to convey important information clearly and effectively
  • Strong leadership and initiative
  • Sociable person, able to provide excellent customer service
  • Quick decision-making and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent time management
  • Responsible, goal-oriented and organized
  • Strong attention to detail and able to multitask
  • Confident, proactive and willing to take on the challenges of the workplace
  • Excellent listening skills and able to receive instructions from people in high level positions
  • Pleasant to most and able to motivate others
